The new year is just around the corner and with it comes new styles and trends that you’ll either love or loathe in your wardrobe. To give you a head’s up, here are some of the men’s fashion trends in 2016 that are likely to start trickling down through the high street and into your shopping bag, or even give you cause to try a new hairstyle for a year of reinvention.

One of the big men’s fashion trends in 2016 will be the return of the bomber jacket. You might have thought you’d left this look behind you years ago, but it’s back with a high-end twist in different colours and materials. In a similar vein, the anorak will also make a return only this time instead of the nasty nylon in garish colours you automatically think of, these will be see through, so a fun twist on an old design!

Bags of style

The man bag has been well and truly upgraded to a trendy man backpack or rucksack, and this is where we’re ahead of the curve! The Harris tweed rucksack is a gorgeous addition to your luggage, in green check Harris tweed with an antique brass finish and adjustable straps for looking great on the go.

Thankfully, we’re not talking about fringe clothing, but actual hairstyles here. The fringe revival is thanks to the runways this season being full of models with relaxed fringes full of texture. When it comes to hairstyles for 2016, the fifties are also making a big comeback, with slicked back locks a big feature also.

Fifties style shirts

Textured fifties shirts are also looking popular for the new year (at least they’ll match your new hair!) and you should expect to see a lot of patterns, colours and materials hitting the high street before long. Not a great look for jeans though, so if you are planning to try out this look, stick to tailored trousers and shiny shoes to pull it off.

Relaxed silhouettes

Baggy trousers are back, and while they aren’t for everyone there are some smaller, subtle changes you can make to try and embrace this trend. While trousers that feel like pyjamas aren’t going to help you feel professional in the work place, a new suit with a relaxed, slouchy cut will help you on your way. Slouchy jeans are also likely to make a comeback following this trend – you have been warned!

Colours of the new season

Every year, the catwalk influences the colours that you’ll see a lot when you’re shopping in stores or buying men’s clothing online, and in 2016 the colours you can expect to see include dark forest greens, teal blues, acidic yellows, and more grey, especially for tailoring.

Have fun shopping for new men’s fashion trends in 2016!
