We’re introducing a series of ‘Brand Spotlights’ on our fantastic range of high quality shoe brands that we think you’ll love. This week, it’s Loake Shoes, one of England’s oldest and best known shoe brands, handmade in Northamptonshire.

Key facts

• The first Loake Shoes factory opened in 1880 by brothers John, Thomas and William Loake

• A family business, spanning 5 generations

• An estimated 50 million pairs of shoes have been made by Loake to date

• In 2007, Loake was granted a Royal Warrant of Appointment to HM The Queen

Features of the brand

Loake is famous for its exacting attention to detail, and it’s a great fit with the Robinson’s Shoes brand for just this reason. Its Goodyear welted shoes (which is a very detailed type of shoe construction) have been perfected over 130 years by Loake master craftsmen. Each pair of Goodyear welted shoes takes 8 weeks to make, using up to 75 shoe parts, 130 skilled craftsman, and around 200 different operations to ensure the finished result is absolutely perfect. You can read more about the process here.

Loake Shoes are also very well known for their exclusive 1880 collection. This premium range of handmade leather shoes are crafted using hand-burnished calf leather, with inbuilt leather heels, linings and insoles for an incomparable fit.
