About The Brand

It all begins with a bicycle journey in 1924. Nineteen year old David Hanna is cycling from Belfast to Donegal to begin his career as a tailor. The Hanna name has been associated with quality Donegal tweed apparel ever since. Hata was founded in 2013 by David’s grandson, Ronan Hanna. Hata combines innovation and tradition to produce a modern take on tweed. Ronan Hanna brings a contemporary feel to his custom tweeds while continuing relationships with local weavers and spinners. To create his modern take on traditional tweeds Ronan selects yarns from Donegal Yarns, Expert weaver’s Molloy & Sons then transform the yarn into tweed, while Hata then tailors the resulting fabric into apparel & Accessories ensuring the designs are truly unique.
